This is possibly the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to write.
I’m devastated to announce that Todai Bujinkan Dojo will be permanently closing in August of this year.
The combination of financial and familial strain makes it no longer possible for me to continue. While my goal was never to make a living from this, the financial risk of supporting the school as well as the time spent away from my family is no longer sustainable.
It has been an absolute privilege to have spent so much time with each and every one of you. You have been gracious enough to follow me on this path into this art we have come to know and love.
Since taking over Todai Bujinkan Dojo in 2012, I have been blessed to meet some of the most wonderful people I have ever met. It breaks my heart that I can no longer continue.
I will continue to hold classes through August. The last membership billing will be in July, after which all memberships will be canceled. I will no longer be accepting new members in the meantime.
I will edit and publish the remaining videos filmed during class on our website, and continue to add notes that I have. I’ll keep that portion of the site live as long as possible, if not perpetually, so you can still have some references for future training.
I hope that all of you will continue your training – if not with me then with another instructor or your fellow students. I am not sure if or when I will be able to resume teaching at a different venue, but it’s likely it won’t be in the near future and will be somewhere closer to home.
I’m deeply saddened and disappointed in myself for letting all of you down. My sincerest apologies for letting this happen.
A piece of me dies with this place. I considered Todai my sanctuary. All I can do moving forward is to be grateful to have had the opportunity to share Todai and this art I love with you all.
I hope to see all of you in class in the coming months before we close.
Thank you very much for being a part of my life.
